How to get more done in the little time you have. Delegate. 5 hacks how to do it.

To keep creating this positive impact, you must learn to delegate tasks to others. Otherwise, you will crack or burn out. Here are 5 hacks for how to do it.

After a while now, in this biodiversity scene, I start to see a certain pattern.

Many biodiversity heroes put a lot of pressure and responsibility on their shoulders.

🦸‍♂️ Hire the right people

✍️ Write down all the tasks you do for 2 weeks

🤔 Training is an investment, not a cost

Great post, Oliver!

From my years of experience leading very large teams with ~$2B global revenue: when you are working with highly talented, creative, individuals, delegate the WHAT (the results and the deadlines), NOT the how.  It is frequently positively surprising the great results that can be achieved when people feel empowered to use their own creativity to solve a problem.  As a leader it can be hard to watch someone do something differently than how you would do it if it is something you know how to do really well, but I learned early on that I don't have all the answers and there are often even better ways to do things.  When things need to be done a certain way (compliance reasons, or data/sample control reasons, or standardization reasons, or whatever), then indeed, documentation is critical.  But when there is room for creativity, unleash it when you delegate it.  Everyone win in the long run.

100% @Drue_Freeman couldn't agree more. In the end it is about execution and the entire team working towards the same goal. Doesn't matter exactly if step by steps were followed. Hopefully, more people read your comment here, very valuable to get these insights from someone that manages big teams like you.
