Take the 2024 WILDLABS State of Conservation Technology Survey

What technologies are you using or building for nature, and how are they working for you? Have your say in the 5-year trends report on the State of Conservation Technology by taking the 2024 survey today!

Why This Year

Help us capture where conservation technology stands today and what is needed in the future by taking the 2024 WILDLABS Conservation Tech Survey and sharing it with your network. This is an especially important survey to contribute to, as it will feed into our five-year trends report that will be released before our international conference in 2025.

Your voice matters! This is some of the only research in the world uncovering insights about barriers to access, global user needs, and priorities for advancing the affordability and effectiveness of technologies for biodiversity conservation. Gathering diverse perspectives is critical to help us capture what challenges and opportunities need investment. Help us get the word out!

About the Research

First, a huge thank you to everyone who has already contributed valuable time and effort over the years to make this research meaningful. As many of our community members have experienced firsthand, technology’s role in biodiversity and conservation is evolving at a rapid pace, and the number of individuals using, making, or scaling technology for nature is growing year over year. With access to a global network of over 10,000 people working at the intersection of conservation and technology, we can track what you need and how the sector is changing over time.

That’s why we partnered with researchers at Colorado State University in 2020 to run the first-ever State of Conservation Technology Survey. We then published the State of Conservation Technology 2023 report, a three-year trends analysis that tracked changes in the sector over time. (To see what this data looks like in action, explore key insights from our three-year trends report or read the open-access academic publication.) Now, we’re gathering your insights and perspectives again to capture what’s changed over 5 years.

The goal of this research is to:

  • Build an evidence base for future investments that support the community
  • Share sector insights back to the community
  • Use the insights to create more effective WILDLABS programs, such as funding opportunities, capacity-building programmes, and our upcoming international conference
  • Communicate shared priorities that influence policy and funding decisions, particularly relating to 2030 targets
  • Amplify a united voice to drive progress toward impactful and inclusive solutions for the planet

Contribute your thoughts, experiences, and perspectives by December 31 to help us build a longitudinal dataset that tracks trends and shapes the future of the sector. Take the WILDLABS Conservation Tech Survey 2024 today!

Survey Details

This survey will ask you for your thoughts on the technologies you work with and broader questions on challenges facing the conservation technology sector and opportunities for addressing them.

The survey is designed to take about 10 minutes to complete. Please keep in mind that your participation is voluntary and that your responses will remain confidential. Follow this link to access the survey and consent information, and let us know if you have any questions.
