Today at the Bioacoustics Data Networks and Platforms webinar during the after hour, there was a great discussion about long term data infrastructure. Not just how to operate it, make it accessible and maintain it, but also how to keep it all running in the long term. This boiled down to the issue of funding.
It felt like a topic that must come up in other WILDLABS groups and conservation topics.
Is it an issue at all for you? If not why not?
How big are the costs, approximately?
Who is funding - through money or in kind?
How did you acquire that support?
How secure is it in the long term, say decade or decades?

Just curiously, how much data are we talking about ? Is another to ask a similar question.
Does anyone have any idea of the extremes of data storage? How many terabytes? So, how many terabytes is stored currently by Arbimon? @carlybatist is this information something that can be shared ?
Knowing the figures can help point to a solution direction.
