Hi everyone,
Two best practice guides have been added to the library this week, and i'm hearing some whispers of some others in development. I'm collating them into this collection. The library currently includes:
- Camera Traps
- Acoustic Monitoring
- Remote Sensing: Lidar
- Satellite Remote Sensing
- Drones
- An introduction to satellite tracking technologies for tracking wildlife
- Good practice guidelines for long-term ecoacoustic monitoring in the UK
- A practical guide to DNA based methods for biodviersity assessment
These are just the guidelines I know about, are there others out there we should add to this list so they're signposted?
If we were building out this library - what topics/tech would you add as a top priority?
Steph
NB: Related conversation, but I think a textbook for undergrads is different (but complementary) to these types of user guidelines!

Capturing @Benjamin_Barca recommendation coming through on linkedin - thanks a lot! I'll add this properly to our library too!
'https://ab.pensoft.net/article/68634/ from 2021 but probably the most comprehensive practical guide for eDNA monitoring out there?'

I'm noticing that these are all fairly technical and focused on data collection/analysis methods... I'd be interested in having more frameworks on how conservation tech can be used in practice. I think there's a lot of good stuff out there about how to get data but not as much about how to actually apply to policy, management, etc. That results-->action pipeline!

Capturing some other feedback coming in over twitter!
I'd love some guidance on implementing different environmental sensors (Bosch BME680, PIR, Proximity etc) and perhaps a framework for GUI access to data being logged from phone/pc. I have a Pi Zero project for monitoring hedgehogs but it's stalled

Okay interesting interesting, that's useful to hear! It sounds like some of this is immediate troubleshooting - our community is really good at providing advice on pi-zero type projects.

If you pop into our sensors group and start a discussion thread about your project, you'll get lots of feedback that might get you over the part where you've stalled. Try here: https://t.co/xA4flp5JLv

This guide for ecoacoustics looks good. I havent read it yet though!
