Geospatial Wildlabbers,
Opengeos, and QGIS are the gifts that keep on giving. It used to be that Arcgis Pro had the easiest basemaps to add to a project. I'm not so sure about that now. Check this out from opengeos for QGIS:
- Download the Python script qgis_basemaps.py from this repository to your local machine.
- Open the Python console in QGIS:
- Click the python button in the toolbars
- Click show editor .
- Load the downloaded Python script into the QGIS Python Editor by clicking on the folder icon to the right and selecting the python script you downloaded in #1.
- Click the python button in the toolbars
- Click the Run script button (green arrow) in the Python Editor to execute the script. This will add many basesmaps as XYZ tiles to QGIS.
- Restart QGIS to see the new basemaps in the XYZ Tiles section of the Browser Panel.
Voila! Make sure to restart QGIS to see the basemaps. If you have any trouble see this video:
Happy basemapping!
