Hello all!
I just found this amazing resource and was hoping people here could help provide me some with advice! I am a junior web developer looking for my first job. After 9+ years of military service in the Canadian Armed Forces as a communication systems specialist I did a 2 year web development program at the North Island College (BC, Canada) in 2017-2019 learning skills with html, css, javascript, mySQL, Ruby on Rails, PHP, and wordpress. After I spent a few years working on my health as I was medically discharged I started to volunteer at my local wildlife rescue and lit the fire in my soul for conservation. As my health improved I did a second 6 month full stack program through lighthouse labs to refresh and improve my skills particularly with Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, and React.js.
Due to my medical release from the Canadian Armed Forces I receive a medical pension and benefits that provide me enough income to live comfortably and focus on my work at the wildlife rescue where I provide care for patients as well as care for some of our Ambassador education birds. With my benefits I am allowed to work to earn up to $20,000 CAD annually without it affecting my benefit, and with how much time I dedicate towards the wildlife care it makes sense for me to seek part time work that will keep me within the annual earning limitations.
So currently I am looking for part time work with a low salary. I want to use and develop my skills in work that supports conservation work. I have reached out so several companies and individuals but haven't gotten any replies so I was hoping posting here I could get some advice from the many experts here. Thank you all for your time reading my post, any advice or insights you can provide, and for all the work you do for our planet.
