About the Centre for Sustainable Forests and Landscapes (CSFL)
Galvanising research and teaching to deliver leadership and impact in sustainable forests and landscapes.
CSFL brings together people with an interest and expertise in sustainable forests and landscapes based in and around Edinburgh, and further afield. CSFL was established to accelerate interdisciplinary research, partnerships, teaching, and innovation in sustainable forests and landscapes by building on the breadth of academic expertise in the University of Edinburgh's School of GeoSciences and expanding capability where there are opportunities. This can be achieved through focused expertise, research and collaboration, by developing new postgraduate teaching, and by facilitating thought leadership across sectors, from university and government to the private and third sectors.
Connect at CSFL Monthly Events
- Edinburgh Forests and Landscapes Network is part of our efforts to develop an informal meeting place where academics, researchers and postgraduate students can meet with policy, business and third sector professionals to share insights, experiences and perspectives that will benefit a diverse audience. Most sessions will take place on the first Wednesday of the month 4-6pm in the Edinburgh Climate Change Institute (ECCI), starting with a 45-60min of plenary session followed by informal networking with refreshments. Please note that there will be no sessions in January, July and August. If you have any suggestions, would like to contribute to future Edinburgh Forests and Landscapes Networking events, please reach out.
- Edinburgh Environment and Development Network was initiated in early 2018 to bring together academics and practitioners working on issues of environment and development from around Edinburgh. The network aims to promote discussion around topics of interest, a sharing of knowledge and experience, a greater awareness of each other’s work, potential to collaborate on proposals and projects, and just a chance to get to know each other. We meet once a month (except in the summer; June-August) for discussions on topics introduced by members of the network, with facilitation aimed at sharing expertise and experiences amongst all those present. Sessions take place on Thursdays 16:00-17:30 at ECCI, with refreshments provided. We welcome all new members and all ideas for topics and formats for meetings, so please do get in touch if you’d like to join or share your ideas.
