Free online tool to analyze wildlife images

Hey everyone!

We made a free online tool to find animals on single images.

Link is here: https://www.animaldetect.com/wildlife-detector

It works very simple: drop an image -> get animal (or human/vehicles) detected.

  • No sign-up needed.
  • You can share images via URL or Download them.
  • Images you upload are not publicly shown to others, unless you share the link.
  • The tool uses same AI models as our Animal Detect platform.
    • MegaDetector for detection
    • SpeciesNet for classification

"What's the catch?"

There isn't one, really. While this tool is a good "demo" of what our main bulk image processing platform can do, we have enough spare resources to let this tool live online and free forever.

How the idea was born?

We noticed that a lot of our new users are creating a project (data deployment/session) and go through the whole flow just to test one image. While this works, it is TOO MUCH commitment for just one image. Animal Detect shines best at bulk data processing == large volumes. To get gigabytes of images in-and-out.

Hence we made a 1-image quick tool. Since it uses the same AI-stack -> you can expect the bulk processing on the platform to yield the same result.

Moreover, we got multiple requests for an API. Think of this tool as a "visual demo" of API that is coming soon.

P.S. Don't try to upload anything shady, we have NSFW filters!

P.S2 Feedback is always very welcomed!

Hello Eugene, I just tried your service:

Was wondering how possible will it be to have the option to upload a second image and have a comparison running to let the user know if body patterns are: 'same' or 'different', helping to identify individuals.

Thanks and kind regards from Colombia,
Alejo
