The need for specialized technology tools to enhance plant conservation

Hi everyone,

I've been thinking a lot about plants lately and wanted to share my thoughts. In most discussions, it seems that many conservation technology tools are primarily designed for the conservation of animals and birds, with significant efforts directed towards them. This made me wonder if it would also be beneficial to have conservation technology tools specifically for plants, as they are also part of wildlife. Additionally, some species of indigenous plants seem to be on the brink of extinction, and some that existed in the past are now gone.

So, I began to think: is it possible to develop conservation technology tools specifically for plants? Although I'm not sure if such tools already exist, I believe plants should be given the same priority as animals. I welcome any suggestions, discussions, and opinions on this matter. I would also appreciate any information on existing conservation tools for plants.

Thank you.

That's a great question! I don't have any answers but my first thought was that the detection part of the problem looks very different when you're looking for plants vs animals (no camera traps, audio recorders, etc.) and often quite hard, as you're having to discriminate species that may be difficult to identify even in hand.

I'd love to hear more from people who are working on this!
