Poaching data request

Hi everyone!

My name is Martina Fernando, and I am a PhD student in Environmental and Evolutionary Biology at Sapienza University of Rome. For my PhD project I aim to identify poaching hotspots and analyze the impact of these activities on mammal populations; but to achieve this, I need access to high-quality, spatially explicit data on poaching events (i.e., with geographic coordinates, species involved, and other relevant details).
I am reaching out to you all to ask collaboration in accessing such data. If you or your organization collects data on poaching events, I would be immensely grateful if you would consider sharing it for academic research purposes. I will treat all data with utmost confidentiality and adhere to any data-sharing agreements or conditions you might require.
Please feel free to contact me directly if you have data to share or would like more information about my project.

Thank you!!

Hi,

I could only look into the poaching events of one specific game reserve in South Africa. If those numbers would be of interest, please let me know.
Another quite accurate spatial map of rhino poaching is provided on the oxpecker website for the southern African countries.

All the best,
Georg

@Marti09 might be worth reaching out to the organization listed here?

Hi Martina, I am sure you are aware but if not both EIA and TRAFFIC have poaching data that can be downloaded - which might be of use to you.
