Overview  

The Group on Earth Observations is an intergovernmental partnership improving availability, access and use of Earth observations for a sustainable planet; building GEOSS - Global Earth Observation System of Systems (geoportal.org). 

They also run the Global Forest Observation Initiative, Global Ecosystem Initiative, Global Network for Observation & Info in Mountain Environments (GNOME). GEO Promotes early warning system for algal blooms, soils map for Africa, global monitoring system for mangroves, natural capital & ecosystems accounting.
