MegaDetector is probably the most important AI tool in a camera trapping toolbox! Using it to sort images into animal, human, vehicle and blank is a huge time saver. It can be used for video, but requires pre-processing the video into frames. It can be hard to use if you don't know your way around Python and AI models. In that case, try using EcoAssist or a similar user interface wrapper.

Great tool we have used for many of our Challenges, the detector itself is very preformant but it's the supporting code that makes it super easy to use and quick to deploy.
Specifications
MegaDetector is an AI model that detects animals, vehicles and people in camera trap images, and is most often used to avoid reviewing blank images. The current version (version 5) was trained using YOLOv5, based on data from a variety of ecosystems.
