The program has to be in line with FCI's objective, stated as "to support and enhance the conservation of forest ecosystems through the actions of Indigenous Peoples and local communities to ensure their sustainability and benefit for future generations." ( call page )
Important points
- Expression of interests are asked from local organizations in sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, South and South-East Asia, and the Pacific Islands.
- One would have to have the skills, capacity and experience to run a funding program with at least one call.
- Annual budget is €80.000 during three years ( January 2026 to December 2028 ) to cover organizational costs and the grants to be distributed.
- Total budget for all winning proposals is not mentioned.
Personal remarks:
- This is a rare opportunity. In the past few years, I have collected data on almost 300 sponsors and their funding programs, and I haven't come across a call like this before. It happens that a sponsor finances a funding program run by another sponsor or NGO. However, this has in my experience never been explicitly and publicly called for.
- It may be a long shot, but those interested in advancing the use of technology in a region may see an opportunity here.
