I’m new to WildLabs and still exploring the community, but I was excited to find a group focused on sustainable fisheries. It seems like things are a bit quiet here, so I thought I’d kick off a conversation by sharing what we’re working on at CatchCam Technologies.
I’m a comms executive at CCTech. While I usually work from behind a screen, I occasionally join our team aboard fishing vessels to see our tech in action.
Our main tool is CatchCam, a coke-can-sized underwater camera designed to be easily attached to any type of fishing gear.
As you can imagine, it’s built to take a beating (we’ve even tested it by running it over with a tractor, just to be sure!). It's been used across the UK and Scotland, including projects with the Shetland Fisheries Organisation, EEFPO, Heriot-Watt University, University of Exeter, and others.
The core idea behind it is simple: we can’t manage what we can’t see. CatchCam helps fishers and researchers see what’s really happening below the surface. As a consequence, it helps us see how gear is performing, if bycatch tools are working as they should, and how marine species interact with it.
So why post here?
I'm seeing a rise in interest from fisheries managers and scientists, and we’re now looking for new partnerships, especially in the research and survey space. If you’re involved in any similar projects or just curious about the tech, I’d love to chat and hear what others in here are up to.
Cheers,
Rosita

Thanks for sharing this Rosita! I've just sent you an email about coming on Variety Hour to talk about CatchCam :)
