Seeking Feedback: Offline-Friendly Conservation Tech Training for African Farmers and Youth

Hi everyone,

I’m currently developing a multilingual, offline-friendly training program called ConTech Curriculum, designed to teach rural farmers, youth, and frontline conservation workers across Sub-Saharan Africa how to use essential conservation technologies — even without internet access.

The project covers tools like GPS Logger, ODK, QField, SMART, and camera traps, with lessons delivered through easy-to-follow videos, illustrated PDFs, and voiceovers in English, Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, Swahili, and French. All content will be shared via USBs, memory cards, WhatsApp, and solar-powered devices for those in remote communities.

We’ve already started building out the curriculum (designed like you're teaching a 10-year-old), and I’ve been testing it with farmers in Nigeria — including my own parents, who now use GPS tools to track planting activities!

I’d love to hear:

  • Has anyone done something similar in your region?
  • Are there any existing materials you'd recommend we align with?
  • Would anyone be open to testing this in your community or reviewing the materials?

Open to partnerships, feedback, or ideas. This is something I truly believe can close a major learning gap in the conservation tech space.

Thanks for reading!
