Thanks to our wonderful user community and a lot of feedback, shared sample data and fruitful discussions I am glad to announce that Firetail 13 is now available, featuring a range of improvements and new features to smoothly integrate your project data!
- import and overlay video/media data
- synchronize resources with acceleration and sensor data
- validate model-based annotations
- compare annotation sources, compute overlaps and more
- new, streamlined workflows
Try it here https://www.firetail.de and stay tuned for upcoming video tutorials (make sure to subscribe & notify on yt) and for those that prefer reading content (like me), learn more from our manual pages.

To give you an idea of how the new video overlay works in practice, here's a preview to the upcoming https://www.e-obs.de newsletter, where we joint forces with OSA/Tropical Movement Lab to deepen our understanding of how to evaluate predictions of behavior for King Vultures. I'll keep you updated on this amazing project! More details on this cooperation can be found in last year's article.
Below, you see the new video sync module (lower half) with sample footage from a very cool on-animal drop-off camera system. You can see predicted behavior from acceleration sensors (FireSOM module) along with the video sequences for validation.

Wow this is amazing! The video feature could also be extremely valuable for ground truthing if acc data using non-animal-borne video.

@tobiaspetri Thanks for sharing. I had couple of really difficult technical problems in downloading Firetail website taking a really long time to load (3+ mins for homepage load and 34.3MB download taking 46mins). I could provide you some network debug logs. This makes it difficult to access the website from global south.

Hey looks great. We could try it out with my teammates at Animal Detect, just for the sake of feedback and seeing how the peers are doing. :)
Would we be needing a trial license or a free tier should do it?
