Blurring of humans in camera trap data

Hi All,

I'm looking into tools that can be used to blur images containing humans from camera trap data. So far I've found people using standard photo editing software and come across WildCo-Faceblur. I'm looking for something that could be more streamlined than using editing software but have planned to use Timelapse and not MegaDetecter which as far as I can tell is needed for the WildCo-Faeblur. Is anyone using any other alternatives or have some ideas for this?

Thanks!

Chelsea

Well, obviously I'm super-biased :), but... why not use WildCo-FaceBlur, including MegaDetector?

Part of that question is just me putting my MegaDetector hat on, but part of it is just trying to put a finer point on the requirements, so that if there are specific requirements that exclude MegaDetector, you can get better advice about alternatives.

@slope game If you prefer not to use MegaDetector, you might consider other pre-trained object detection models like YOLOv5 or Faster R-CNN, which can detect humans and then apply automated blurring via OpenCV.

Hi Chelsea,

the Deepfaune team (which develops the AI model for Europe that is available in AddaxAI) also has its own software that can blur the images if you want. In case that's useful. Available here:

Out of curiosity, as we have some projects collecting videos, what would be the best solution for blurring video content?
