Do you collect or use sound recordings of habitats or species like birds, frogs, mammals, or insects in India? We need your expertise!
Please take 5 minutes to fill out this short survey. Your input will help us better understand the community working with acoustic data and guide exciting future initiatives.

Why this matters:
The India Ecoacoustics Network (IEN) is working to build the first-ever centralized bioacoustics database for India. This survey is the first step toward mapping existing audio data across institutions and individuals and will allow us to assess the stakeholder community. Our goals with this survey are to:
- Support acoustic research on Indian wildlife and habitats
- Foster collaboration through future projects
If you choose to contribute your data to the project, you will:
- Be recognized as a co-author on a scientific publication
- Help shape the future of biodiversity monitoring in India
About us:
The India Ecoacoustics Network is a ~400-member community of academics, conservation practitioners, government officials, and nature enthusiasts passionate about studying and protecting India’s rich soundscapes.
Please feel free to forward this email to others who might be interested in contributing to this effort. We're excited to connect with new stakeholders and collaborators!
Thank you for your time and support,
The India Ecoacoustics Network Team and the database working group (a growing list): Pralhad Burli, Pooja Choksi, Sarika Khanwilkar, Paul Pop, Vijay Ramesh, Sameer Singh, and Sonal Teotia

PROJECT UPDATE:
We are curating an open-access, annotated acoustic dataset for India! 🇮🇳🌿
This project has two main goals:
🎧 To develop a freely available dataset of annotated acoustic data from across India (for non-commercial use)
📝 To publish a peer-reviewed paper with all community contributors that ensures transparency, credibility, and future usability
