2025 Innovation Challenge Workshop Series: AI and IoT for Real-Time Conservation Impact
Registration Now Open for Conservation Professionals
Across the conservation sector, interest in emerging technologies is growing, but practitioners often lack opportunities to engage directly with the tools, people, and ideas shaping this space. The 2025 Innovation Challenge Workshop Series responds to this gap by creating a practical, inclusive environment where conservation professionals can explore innovation on their own terms, guided by real-world examples and peer-to-peer exchange.
Organised as part of Tech4Nature’s official build-up to the IUCN World Conservation Congress 2025, the workshops will focus on the practical application of frontier technologies including artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, blockchain, and gamification to address urgent challenges that conservation professionals like you are facing today. These technologies are being explored in support of core priorities that will feature prominently at Congress, such as strengthening governance, enhancing biodiversity monitoring, unlocking sustainable finance, and improving access to timely data for decision-making in protected and conserved areas.
Each session features expert contributors from the conservation and technology sectors who will share real-world case studies and lessons learned. These short showcases will be followed by rotating small-group discussions where you can reflect, ask questions, and explore how these tools might support your own goals and context.
The workshops are designed for practitioners who are curious about innovation. No technical experience is required. Whether you are already experimenting with new tools or just beginning to explore them, this is a space to connect, learn, and identify ideas you can apply to your work.
You may register for one, two, or all three sessions. While each is self-contained, together they contribute to a broader global conversation about how digital innovation can support more inclusive, effective, and equitable conservation.
Each workshop is limited to 50 participants to ensure depth, interaction, and space for meaningful dialogue. The first registration deadline is 12 August for the AI and IoT session.
